
Meet Eric
Following careers in law and in environmental business, Eric Bettelheim trained as a psychodynamic psychotherapist with the Society of Analytic Psychology. In addition to his clinical practice with adults of all ages Eric has pursued academic research in the Neuroscience of Mental Health and in Neuroaesthetics, the study of art and the brain, at King’s College London.
Eric began his professional career as a commercial lawyer and became a specialist in the law and regulation of financial markets becoming the managing partner in London for a Wall Street law firm. His clients included a wide variety of global financial institutions and businesses.
After 20 years practising law he founded and was the executive chairman of a private group of companies dedicated to the ethical and sustainable use of tropical forests. His experience includes working with major industrial, financial and not-for-profit organisations to achieve environmental goals.
Eric has published numerous articles and papers on his subjects of expertise including in peer-reviewed scientific journals. He was co-editor and contributor to a seminal work on carbon sequestration published by The Royal Society.
Eric's Professional Experience
In addition to managing his private practice Eric currently serves as a director of the Freud Foundation and WildEarth. Prior to qualifying as a psychotherapist he served as Founder and Executive Chairman of a Group of Companies dedicated to combatting climate change and to the restoration of tropical ecosystems; as the Managing Partner in London of a prominent Wall Street law firm, as director of companies engaged in insurance and internet communications and as a consultant to businesses in the energy, forestry and paper sectors.

About Eric
